About the Position

The Team Lead, Solutions works as part of the APAC solutions team and is primarily responsible for leading and coordinating pre‑sales and implementation support for the Japan sales team. The person will engage directly with potential and existing clients to communicate technical features of the products and how the products can support the client’s strategies.

Responsibilities

- Drive and measure key response metrics for the Solutions team including research tasks, technical delivery and engineering practices.
- Create and encourage a culture of excellent technical service.
- Use sound judgement to escalate issues when necessary.
- Coordinate efforts to achieve outstanding results.
- Manage the operations of the Solutions team in Japan, including performance and review processes, leave approvals, career progression, competency development, workload allocation, and network with other departments.
- Resolve any people‑related issues that may arise.
- Assure delivery of market research, technical discussions, model development, demonstrations, and implementation projects to continuously grow client base.
- Mentor and develop a team of technical experts to deliver an outstanding experience.
- Leverage knowledge across teams and general resources.

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualification in mathematics, engineering, economics or another related quantitative field. Minimum Bachelor’s degree; Master’s or above desirable.
- Proficiency at N1‑level on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (advanced/near‑native Japanese).
- Deep domain expertise in the Japan energy market, including power market fundamentals, regulatory landscape and commercial dynamics.
- Understanding of emerging technologies and their impact on the industry.




- Knowledge of mathematical programming methods and their application.
- Experience using PLEXOS and knowledge of its capabilities; if no direct experience, solid knowledge and experience with other market simulation software.
- Basic knowledge of scripting/coding languages.
- Understanding of cloud environments for cloud and SaaS products.
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal and technical communication skills, able to explain complex issues clearly.
- Knowledge of general customer service principles.
- Knowledge of problem‑solving techniques, critical thinking, and ability to deliver valuable outcomes.
- Commercial acumen and understanding of the impact of business decisions.
- Emotional intelligence and ability to manage emotions in different situations.
- Direct people leadership experience preferred but not essential; passion to develop leadership and mentoring skills.
- Knowledge of change‑management principles and experience applying them in technical change implementation.
- Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively.
