Your Job
The Senior Footwear Cost Engineer, Asia supports the Footwear Costing Team by collecting and validating cycle time, worker count, and material loss data in sample rooms and production floors at footwear factories and vendors on a seasonal basis.
The role analyzes footwear product cost structures, challenges irregular or inconsistent data, and identifies improvement opportunities for cost savings. The engineer collaborates with factory costing teams to build seasonal mold sheets, aligns to capacity and forecast, and works closely with product, commercialization, and QA teams to ensure accurate cost assessments and drive process efficiency.
Strong communication skills in the local language and English are required.
Your Responsibilities
Collect hourly output, worker count, and material waste information for new processes at factory and vendor sites during sample stages and provide data to Footwear Costing Analysts for seasonal product costing and material pricing.
Compare efficiency of processes and material usage across products, factories, and vendors to identify improvement opportunities during sample development stages.
Identify efficiency improvement opportunities through data collection phases at factory groups and vendors, make recommendations to management, and collaborate with Product Engineers and Commercialization Engineers to validate changes and capture potential savings.
Compare and validate data collected during sample development and production floor to identify additional efficiency savings and pass findings to the Costing Analyst team for potential material/process savings.
Work closely with Development and Commercialization teams to understand Brooks’ product construction methods and manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with factory costing teams to create seasonal mold sheets based on monthly capacity, size curve, and annual forecast, and validate and approve mold quantities requested by factory groups.
Travel frequently to vendors’ factory sites to collect data when needed, balancing time between local-based footwear factories and suppliers nearby.
Continuously learn new and modern manufacturing techniques.
Participate in weekly meetings at factory locations to analyze cost impact of potential changes.
Provide data on new processes and differences between multi-sourced processes to the Costing team via monthly reports and presentations to communicate seasonal cost analysis findings to management.
Compile seasonal data collected from Footwear teams and report seasonal cost learnings to cross‑functional teams at the end of each development season.
Maintain and update seasonal costing handbook.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a focus in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, Finance/Accounting, or a related field.
5+ years of relevant experience in footwear development, engineering, manufacturing, and/or costing, with at least 2 years of costing experience and a track record of significant costing improvements.
Knowledge of footwear construction and manufacturing processes and costing, including strong understanding of cost drivers.
Detail‑oriented planning, organization, and execution of tasks while understanding the big picture and interdependencies.
Integrity, flexibility, results orientation, and strong teamwork skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially negotiation skills.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both the local language and English.
Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and basic proficiency in MS Power Point.
Willingness to travel when necessary.
Professional and efficient collaboration with all key departments, including US development, Asia Development, Commercialization, Production, and QA.
