Project Overview
Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru.
The WTP Project consists of the West plant with a capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East plant with a capacity of 2,700 m3/hour.
Early works are currently being performed on site to prepare the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, and to develop the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule, and Execution Plan.
Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for executing, directing, and reporting the activities on your assigned work front of the Instrumentation and Control discipline in the Pre‐Commissioning and Commissioning team.
The Instrumentation specialist will report to the I&C; Leader of the area in which he is assigned and will provide technical support to other specialists.
Major Responsibilities
Support the Pre‐Commissioning and Commissioning team in activities associated with I&C;, including checking schematics, performing loop checks, verifying logic, checking alarms and setpoints, establishing communication links with other teams, and attending delivery walks.
Perform specific I&C; activities such as testing with PLC/PCS and other systems supplied by third parties.
Plan work related to I&C; energizations and coordinate the daily activities of the seller's representatives on the ground.
Lead and take ownership of the I&C; systems and drive towards completion of PCS tests and activities, applying general I&C; and PCS procedures.
Manage changes within the I&C; testing process, including changes to scope drawings, issuing NCRs, FCDs, redlines, and other documents associated with PCS testing.
Lead and supervise staff supporting the execution of schematic checks, loop checks, and subsystem tests.
Update I&C; related test documents such as scope drawings, update the database, and coordinate with the Delivery team ("Turnover").
Apply I&C; test procedures and documents, supporting change management and follow‐ups.
Identify technical problems related to I&C; and raise issues to the Process Leader of the Pre‐Commissioning and Commissioning Area.
Work with contractors and seller's representatives to ensure test documentation is complete and correct.
Support LOTO activities during preparation of the works and ensure full compliance with the program.
Collaborate with Pre‐Commissioning and Commissioning Automation Engineers to achieve acceptance testing and system testing, and be responsible for the review and release of security formats (IPERC, PETAR, ATS, etc.) on each assigned work front.
Education and Experience Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, electronics or a related specialty, with more than 8 years of relevant professional experience, and at least 8 years in a similar role or ***** years of relevant work experience.
Extensive experience in designing and implementing automation systems, preferably in the mining sector, with mastery of PLC, PCS, SCADA and HMI programming and configuration.
Experience with Rockwell Control Systems and Yokogawa Supervision Systems is valued.
College‐educated and qualified is desirable.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement,
including execution of tests during the Pre‐Commissioning and Commissioning stages.
Knowledge and experience with I&C; systems and PCS, preferably in the mining industry.
Understanding of I&C; requirements for construction completion and Pre‐Commissioning Tests, together with PCS.
Knowledge of instrumentation calibration, loop checking, and Pre‐Commissioning procedures.
Knowledge of the Pre‐Commissioning Tests and Delivery Process ("Turnover").
Knowledge of the electrical insulation process to perform I&C; and PCS tasks safely.
Experience preparing Work Safety Analysis Cards and the LOTO process.
Leadership and supervisory skills for staffing Pre‐Commissioning activities related to I&C.;
Computer skills, including experience with MS Office, TeamWorks, and Aconex.
Previous knowledge of Bechtel Construction (SWPP) and Pre‐Operations (STCP) procedures is desirable.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to manage personnel and solve professional problems and conflicts.
