Position Summary

Bechtel is seeking a Social Expert to join an ambitious project management consultancy team supporting a government-led program aimed at planning, implementing and scaling the delivery of solar thermal comfort system project to improve health outcomes for indigenous populations from the effects of extreme frost. The Bechtel team would assist in forming, training and leading a technical team, working closely with community and project stakeholders, to build the capacity and capabilities of the project management office and transfer construction and maintenance knowledge to end users.

Job Responsibilities

- The social expert will work with the project team, PMO and community stakeholders to implement the Project Action Plan and develop / adapt it as the project develops. This will involve working closely with the PMO team and the Community.

- The role will require a regular presence at the project site in Puno, Cusco and additional work with the PMO team as required in Lima.

- Daily responsibility for compliance with the Social Action Plan.

- Lead or contribute to specific work packages such as stakeholder participation, needs analysis, community development plans, social surveillance.

- Work with the PMO to ensure effective engagement and consultation with people living / working near or within the project area and with the broader affected communities.

- Work with the PMO and project members to maintain good relations with the community and address community concerns as they arise and agree on measures to respond to complaints in coordination with the larger project team and complaints committee.

- Supervise the social consultants who support the project.

Basic Qualifications

- Degree in social sciences or prior experience working in community engagement/relations.

- Demonstrable familiarity and trajectory in the application of national legislation and good national industry in social Issues.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, understand community and stakeholder perspectives and vulnerabilities, and relate to project stakeholders and project management teams in a positive and constructive manner.

- Proven responsibility in the day-to-day management of social studies and delivery of social studies and impact

- Tools and skills to engage with Andean communities and facilitate inclusive problem solving.

- Professional in oral and written Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications

- Professional industry accreditation

- Knowledge or fluency of the Quechua language.

- Knowledge of design thinking and human-centered design techniques.
