About MXP MXP (MarineXchange) builds the software that runs cruise operations. Around 100 people develop and support a modular platform used by leading cruise lines — from property management and point of sale to itinerary planning, supply chain and port operations. Our customers run 24/7 operations at sea, which makes reliable delivery not a nice-to-have but the product itself. Purpose of the role Our Property Management System (PMS) runs the hotel side of a cruise ship: guests, cabins, check in, onboard payments and accounting. Cruise lines rely on it every day, at sea and ashore. You take ownership of credit card payments and finance exports, and you grow into PMS accounting over time. This is a hands on role: you own your module and do the work yourself, from specification to testing and documentation. You are the reference for how money flows through the ship and into our clients’ accounting systems. This role is made for a former Chief Purser or a comparable onboard finance professional who wants to bring that experience into software. We are looking for a strong performer who sets a high bar for accuracy and follow through.
Key responsibilities
Credit card payments
- Own the credit card payment module and its integrations with payment service providers (PSPs).
- Cover all payment channels: on board, online check in and the MXP365 web shop, including token capture, settlement and refunds.
- Run a large number of PSP projects in parallel, from client requirements to go live, together with development and the payment providers.
- Analyse and resolve payment issues with clients, PSPs and our technical teams. Card security compliance
- Make sure our payment solutions meet card security requirements (PCI DSS and related standards).
- Support audits by payment service providers and keep compliance documentation up to date. Finance exports
- Own the finance exports from the PMS to our clients’ accounting systems.
- Analyse client requirements, specify new exports and changes, and verify that the data reconciles. PMS accounting
- Learn PMS accounting in depth, including VAT and SAF-T for several countries. Module ownership and documentation
- Write business requirement documents (BRDs) and specifications for new features and changes.
- Test new functionality, carry out regression tests and support releases.
- Answer client questions and act as the expert contact for payments and finance topics.
- Keep documentation current for every ticket: configuration guides, troubleshooting guides and end user manuals. What success looks like after twelve months
- Your PSP projects run to plan, and clients and payment providers know you as their contact for payments.
- Every ticket you close comes with updated documentation, and clients find answers in the guides instead of raising new tickets.
- Finance exports reconcile without manual corrections.
- You support the team confidently on PMS accounting questions. What you bring Essential
- Experience as Chief Purser or in a comparable senior finance role on board a cruise ship.
- Strong accounting background: daily closing, cash handling, credit card settlement, VAT and foreign exchange.
- Understanding of the full onboard ship operation,
from embarkation to disembarkation.
- Technical affinity: comfortable with system configuration, testing, data and interfaces.
- Clear, structured writing in English: you produce specifications and documentation that others can rely on.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel to clients and ships when needed. Desirable
- Experience with credit card payments, payment providers or card security compliance (PCI DSS).
- SQL knowledge.
- German or other European languages. How you work
- You pay close attention to detail and close every loop.
- You are confident and professional with clients and stay calm under pressure.
- You manage many topics in parallel and set clear priorities.
- You are proactive and reliable, and you take ownership of your module end to end.
- You set high standards for your own work: you want to excel, not just to get by. Who you work with You are part of our PMS team and work closely with development, quality assurance, release management, payment service providers and the finance and hotel teams of our clients. Why this role is worth taking You bring your shipboard finance experience into software that runs on cruise ships around the world. You own a module that every guest transaction on board depends on, and you grow into PMS accounting, an area few people master. It is hands on work with real impact, in a team of colleagues who know life on board from the inside. Benefits & Perks
- Rapid professional growth at the leading software supplier in the cruise industry
- Secure, long-term employment in a fast-growing industry
- Adaptable hours and remote work – you organise your time around your projects and client commitments
