About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, and distributed systems to contribute to a high-impact Payments Platform. This role focuses on developing and maintaining reliable backend services that support financial operations, payment processing, and revenue-related workflows.

You will work on production-grade services, implement new payment capabilities, improve system reliability, and ensure data consistency across distributed systems. The idóneo candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with financial systems where correctness, idempotency, and transactional integrity are essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and enhance backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Implement new payment methods and capabilities within an existing payments platform.
- Design and maintain event-driven microservices using messaging technologies such as AWS SQS, Apache Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Build and integrate GraphQL solutions using Apollo GraphQL client or Netflix DGS.
- Design reliable database interactions using JPA/Hibernate and MySQL or Amazon Aurora, including transactional management and optimistic locking.
- Integrate with third-party platforms through REST APIs or SDKs while maintaining data consistency across systems.
- Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit 5 and Mockito.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, production deployments, and code quality improvements.
- Improve observability and reliability through monitoring, metrics, and alerting with Datadog.




- Apply resilience patterns and support safe canary and production deployments.
- Use AI-powered coding assistants responsibly to improve development efficiency while maintaining code quality.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot in production environments.
- Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with GraphQL, including Apollo Java/Kotlin client experience.
- Experience with AWS SQS, Apache Kafka, or RabbitMQ in event-driven architectures.
- Strong knowledge of JPA/Hibernate, Spring Data JPA, and MySQL or Amazon Aurora.
- Experience designing transactional workflows, idempotent event handlers, and reliable integrations.
- Proficiency in JUnit 5, Mockito, and integration testing.
- Experience with Gradle multi-module builds.
- Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Datadog metrics and monitors.
- Experience working with financial-grade backend systems where accuracy, consistency, and reliability are critical.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues and deliver maintainable, high-quality code.

Nice to Have

- Previous experience in the billing or payments domain.
- Experience with DynamoDB using AWS SDK v2 or MongoDB with Spring Data.
- Experience building GraphQL APIs using Netflix DGS.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud environments and production deployment strategies.
