The role
We manufacture part of our range with a textile partner in Peru. We need someone on the factory floor who knows where every order stands, spots problems before they become delays, and ensures our goods are made to spec and shipped on time.
You will not run the factory. Your job is to make sure it delivers for us. That takes textile knowledge, a sharp eye for quality, and the ability to keep steady, respectful pressure on a partner when dates start to slip, without damaging the relationship.
This is a part-time role: one day a week at the factory, plus remote follow-up between visits. You will work with our Operations Manager in the Philippines and our CEO in the US.
What you'll do
- Visit the factory one day a week. Check progress against plan at every stage: weaving, cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing.
- Between visits, stay in contact with the factory by phone, message, and email so the production plan stays current.
- Own the production calendar (T&A;) and WIP tracker for every purchase order. Flag risks to ex-factory dates early, together with a recovery plan. Don't wait until the date has passed.
- Drive on-time delivery: escalate inside the factory when needed and push for practical fixes such as resequencing or partial shipments.
- Confirm that fabric, trims, labels, and packaging are ready before production starts.
- Set up a QC report with the factory, then run in-process quality checks against our specs and approved samples. Document defects with photos and make sure fixes happen on the line, not after packing.
- Inspect finished goods before each shipment. Track defects to resolution,
and tell us right away when a shipment should be held.
- Coordinate shipment readiness with our operations team and freight forwarder.
- Send a clear weekly report in English covering status by PO, risks, quality findings, and next actions.
- Improve how we work with the factory over time, with better planning, cleaner handoffs, and fewer surprises.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years in textile or apparel production, production follow-up, merchandising, or quality control. Experience at a Peruvian export manufacturer or a brand's sourcing office in Peru is idóneo.
- Hands-on knowledge of woven production. Home textiles such as bedding and towels are a plus.
- Hands-on textile QC experience: measurements, fabric defects, shade, and AQL sampling.
- A track record of getting suppliers to hit their dates, with specific examples of shipments you saved.
- Experience with T&A; calendars and WIP reporting.
- Native Spanish and professional written and spoken English.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills. You use AI tools to speed up reporting, translation, or analysis, or you are eager to learn.
- Based in Lima and available to be on-site one day a week, with flexibility to move your visit around shipment dates.
- Registered to invoice as an independent contractor in Peru (RUC).
- Independent of our suppliers: no current employment, ownership, or family ties to our textile manufacturer.
How we work
We hire for mindset as much as experience. You own outcomes, not just updates. You stay calm under pressure and firm without drama. You bring bad news early and honestly. You are organized, curious, low ego, and quick to learn.
Why join
You'll work directly with our operations lead and CEO and have real influence over how we manufacture, as part of a small, global, high-accountability team.
How to apply
Apply with your CV in English. In a short note, also in English, tell us about a time a factory was about to miss a ship date and what you did about it. We care more about specifics than polish.
