DETAILS OF THE POSITION

The elementary visual art teacher is responsible for creating a versátil elementary classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth. He or she establishes an effective rapport with students and develops positive relationships with parents and other staff members. Our visual arts program is designed to foster a lifelong appreciation of art for all students, therefore the successful candidate will have experience working in an elementary school environment where he or she can demonstrate and assist students in using different techniques and media to develop art work and provide instruction that encourages students to understand and appreciate art. The elementary visual arts teacher will work closely with the grade level teachers, the other elementary visual arts teacher, as well as the Middle and High School visual arts department,



to continue to build on our current program, teach units of inquiry, and plan curriculum aligned to the National Core Arts Standards. He or she will be responsible for coordinating and organizing grade level and school wide art shows. The visual arts teacher regularly assesses students and develops lesson plans that are responsive to a range of learning needs and English language proficiencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

- BA or MA in Education required
- Certification as an elementary school classroom teacher
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience
- Strong English language proficiency
- A willingness and ability to reflect and critically examine teaching practices and a commitment to continuous improvement
