Project Overview:

Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will supervise a team of Mechanical personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work to the team, with high management and leadership capacity in periodic interdisciplinary meetings with the client and/or equipment suppliers of the plant, in Projects related to copper processing and mining Plants (Concentrators, Leaching, SX/EW TruckShop Plants, Tailings Handling Plants, Process Water Plants/Desalination Plants for Mining, etc.) or others, where, together with other disciplines, the best technical solutions will be validated and reviewed. In this role, you must lead and execute the design, develop, modify, and evaluate mechanical components and processes with continuous interaction with other disciplines. Your recommendations will solve technical problems and ensure that the unique and complex requirements of the mechanical aspects of a project are met. You will be responsible for the mechanical engineering team in the project, in terms of performance, scope of work, technical and design definitions,



in addition to quantity and cost estimates for the mechanical aspects of a project scope. Must have the necessary knowledge for the execution and review of engineering design, development, modification and/or evaluation of mechanical components and processes and interrelation with other disciplines.

Major Responsibilities:

- Planning, developing, directing, and participating in the day-to-day mechanical engineering activity on small to medium sized projects or a portion of a major project with minimal to moderate complexity within a general business unit utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Supervising, coordinating, and reviewing the work of personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly.
- Providing the technical input to meet procurement requirements.
- Preparing or overseing the preparation of mechanical discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
- Maintains contact with other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project(s) and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements.
- Reviewing and making recommendations of the mechanical engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering.
- When directed, coordinating with client representatives to obtain their approval of mechanical engineering aspects of the work.
- Reviewing and approving key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned.
- Ensuring that assigned mechanical engineering personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
- Assisting in the preparation and reviews of project procedures and cost estimates for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires degree in Mechanical Civil Engineering and a minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience in mining and Metals projects. At least 5 years of experience as a supervisor in mining projects.

Required Knowledge and Skills:





- Proven experience in sizing and selecting equipment and mechanical systems for mining and metals, including water pumps, pulps, solvents, distribution networks, material handling and other equipment for the industry.
- Knowledge of the process and equipment that are considered for obtaining minerals.
- On-the-ground experience in the mining industry.
- Knowledge of the development and analysis of calculations of water, acid and pulp networks.
- Knowledge of calculation development for air networks, air conditioning, tanks and fire protection systems.
- The candidate must effectively apply technical knowledge and skills to solve a variety of problems, complete tasks/assignments and provide guidance and advice.
- The candidate must have sufficient experience and skills to act with considerable professional autonomy.
- Advanced intermediate level of oral and written English (mandatory).
