Role Description The Coordinator of Volunteers is a part-time, remote role responsible for organizing and supporting volunteer activities across the organization. This role involves recruiting volunteers, onboarding them to programs, and coordinating schedules and assignments to ensure adequate coverage for events and ongoing initiatives. The coordinator will develop and deliver training materials, maintain accurate volunteer records, and provide ongoing support through regular communication and check-ins. Day-to-day tasks include responding to volunteer inquiries, managing digital platforms used for registration and tracking, and collaborating with program staff to match volunteers to appropriate roles. The coordinator will also help plan outreach efforts, recognize volunteer contributions, and provide feedback to improve the volunteer experience.
Qualifications
• Strong volunteer management skills, including experience coordinating schedules, assignments, and volunteer records.
• Ability to design and deliver effective volunteer training, with attention to clarity, accessibility, and program needs.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities to engage, motivate, and support volunteers and staff.
• Experience with community outreach or engagement, including building partnerships and promoting volunteer opportunities.
• Comfort working in a remote environment, using digital tools for scheduling, communication, and data management.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices and creating welcoming volunteer experiences.
• Prior experience in volunteer coordination, community programs, or nonprofit work is beneficial; relevant education or training in social sciences, human services, or related fields is an advantage.
