About DroneSight
DroneSight is building a distributed drone-detection network based on FAA Remote ID signals. Low-cost, internet-connected receivers detect nearby drones, and we turn that data into real-time airspace information through our web and mobile apps.

We are an early-stage, founder-led company. The platform spans physical receivers, embedded software, cloud infrastructure, high-volume detection data, mapping, and user-facing apps.

The role
This is a full-time independent contractor position. You will be DroneSight's first dedicated engineering hire, working directly with the founder across the whole platform.
Your first priority will be our existing mobile apps (native Android in Java and native iOS in Swift): fixing bugs, improving reliability and performance, and shipping new features.
You don't need deep expertise across every layer of the stack, but you should have senior-level mastery in at least one area (web, backend, or mobile), solid working proficiency in the others, and the independent judgment to pick up what you don't already know.

What you will do




• Improve and extend our Android and iOS apps: fix bugs, improve stability, and ship new features.
• Develop and maintain our web application, interactive detection map, and backend services.
• Build features involving maps, drone detections, user accounts, sensor management, historical data, and data visualization.
• Work with embedded software running on our networked Remote ID receivers.
• Build internal tools for device provisioning, fleet monitoring, diagnostics, and customer support.
• Investigate performance and reliability issues across devices, networks, backend, and apps.
• Turn product ideas and user feedback into working software, working directly with the founder.
• Write tests and documentation appropriate to each system.
• Use AI-assisted development tools while staying responsible for quality, security, and correctness.
