About The Role

The Learning Specialist provides dedicated academic learning support to identify learning gaps, deliver targeted remediation, and strengthen students' study, self-regulation, and test-taking strategies. Through early, individualized intervention, the position helps prevent academic difficulties from becoming course failures or delays in progression.





The Learning Specialist works collaboratively with students, faculty, and academic leadership to develop evidence-informed learning plans, monitor progress, and promote effective approaches to learning in the health sciences. The role maintains appropriate confidentiality, documentation, and referral practices while supporting an inclusive and student-centered learning environment.

Essential Functions

• Conduct individual consultations to assess students' learning needs, study behaviors, time-management practices, and test-taking approaches.
• Develop and implement individualized learning and remediation plans with clear goals, strategies, timelines, and measures of progress.
• Provide coaching in evidence-based learning strategies, including active recall, spaced practice, retrieval practice, organization, note-taking, reading comprehension, and exam preparation.
