ABOUT DRONESIGHT

DroneSight is building a distributed drone-detection network based on FAA Remote ID signals. Low-cost, internet-connected receivers detect nearby drones, and we turn that data into real-time airspace information through our web and mobile apps.

We are an early-stage, founder-led company. The platform spans physical receivers, embedded software, cloud infrastructure, high-volume detection data, mapping, and user-facing apps.

THE ROLE

You will be DroneSight's first dedicated engineering hire, working directly with the founder across the whole platform.

Your first priority will be our existing mobile apps (native Android in Java and native iOS in Swift): fixing bugs, improving reliability and performance, and shipping new features.

We do not expect you to be an expert in everything. We are looking for someone strong in at least one area (web, backend, or mobile) with solid fundamentals and a real interest in learning the rest.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Improve and extend our Android and iOS apps: fix bugs, improve stability, and ship new features.
- Develop and maintain our web application, interactive detection map, and backend services.
- Build features involving maps, drone detections, user accounts, sensor management, historical data, and data visualization.
- Work with embedded software running on our networked Remote ID receivers.
- Build internal tools for device provisioning, fleet monitoring, diagnostics, and customer support.
- Investigate performance and reliability issues across devices, networks, backend, and apps.
- Turn product ideas and user feedback into working software, working directly with the founder.
- Write tests and documentation appropriate to each system.
- Use AI-assisted development tools while staying responsible for quality, security, and correctness.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Fluent written and spoken English. You will work daily with our US-based founder and need to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.

- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience building production web applications, backend services, or mobile apps.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, and the ability to pick up others quickly.
- Experience with APIs, databases, Git, testing, and production systems.
- Ability to investigate unfamiliar systems and make progress independently.
- A practical,



product-oriented mindset: you care whether the whole system works reliably for users.
- Experience using AI coding tools effectively, including reviewing, testing, and correcting AI-generated code.
- Availability for significant daily overlap with US Eastern Time.

NICE TO HAVE (NOT REQUIRED)

- Native Android (Java or Kotlin) and/or native iOS (Swift) strongly preferred; Flutter or React Native also valuable
- TypeScript, JavaScript, React, or similar web technologies.
- Python, Node.js, Go
- PostgreSQL, time-series or geospatial data
- C/C++ for ESP32 or similar embedded devices
