San Silvestre is currently searching for a Mathematics teacher to teach from Grade 6 to IGCSE and IB Level Mathematics.

This is a full-time teaching post to begin February 2027

Roles and Responsibilities

Relationships

● Build positive relationships with students and maintain high classroom standards.

● Collaborate with colleagues in planning and teaching.

● Communicate effectively with parents and participate in conferences.

● Engage in professional dialogue with the Head of Mathematics and SLT.

Curriculum (including Teaching and Learning)

● Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with school policies.

● Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners.

● Collaborate with Learning Support for student success.

● Use varied instructional methods to motivate students.

● Assess, provide feedback, and report on student progress.

● Organise relevant excursions and enrichment activities.

Professional development

● Participate in CPD (Continued Professional Development) and stay updated on best practices in Mathematics education.

● Reflect on teaching effectiveness and curriculum impact.

Student Care

● Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.

● Monitor students’ well-being and follow safeguarding policies.

Administration & Technology

● Attend meetings, complete administrative tasks, and refer concerns appropriately.

● Utilise educational technology to enhance learning.

Additional Responsibilities

● Provide reports, participate in school activities, and supervise students as required.

● Support the school’s ethos and community engagement.

● Teach Mathematics up to IGCSE and/or IB level.

Knowledge and Competencies Required





Essential

● A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. Ed.M., PGCE, QTS).

● Experience in teaching Mathematics within a Secondary School to IGCSE or IB Level.

● A good Bachelors (or equivalent) degree in Mathematics or a related field.

● Ability to speak English fluently.

Desirable

● Experience working with EAL pupils (English as an Additional Language).

● Excellent information technology skills, including familiarity with Google tools for Education; (specifically Google Classroom). (Google Educator Level 1 or Level 2 Certification).

● Experience in supervising Extended Essays for the IB Programme.

● Experience in being an examiner for the IGCSE and/or IB Programme.
