Role Description This full-time on-site Postdoctoral Fellow role at Instituto Geofísico del Perú is based at the Jicamarca Geophysical Observatory facility. The fellow will conduct experimental and observational research in geophysics and related areas, including the design, implementation, and evaluation of scientific experiments and measurement campaigns. Day-to-day responsibilities include data collection, data processing, quantitative analysis, and interpretation of results, as well as preparation of manuscripts, technical reports, and conference presentations.

The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, contribution to ongoing research projects, and support in the development of new proposals and funding applications. The fellow may also participate in mentoring students and assisting with teaching or training activities related to laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific methods.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong experimental work, instrumentation handling, and safe operation of scientific equipment.
- Candidates should possess proven Research experience,



including designing studies, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting scientific findings.
- Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Physics, especially in areas relevant to geophysics, atmospheric sciences, or space physics.
- Candidates should possess advanced Data Analysis skills, including statistical methods, modeling, and use of relevant software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R).
- Candidates should possess mentoring abilities to support training of students, interns, or junior researchers.
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Physics, Geophysics, Atmospheric Science, Space Science, or a closely related field.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural research environment and communicate clearly in written and spoken scientific English; Spanish language skills are an asset.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in an on-site laboratory and observatory setting.
