The Andean Countries Hub supports urban initiatives in the region, focusing on governance, resilience, and sustainable development. This consultancy supports a project aimed at strengthening urban resilience and disaster risk reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean by integrating these aspects into urban planning and local development strategies.

Job purpose:

This consultancy aims to provide transversal technical support for the "Local Solutions for Disaster Risk Reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean" project. The role involves ensuring the effective articulation of urban planning, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and resilience approaches across the project's three intervention areas. The consultant will contribute to the development of technical products, conduct territorial analyses, manage coordination processes, and support knowledge management activities. The objective is to enhance the quality and coherence of project implementation,



ultimately strengthening the resilience of cities in the region by empowering local governments and communities to integrate DRR into their planning and decision‑making processes.

Responsibilities

The consultant will provide technical support for project implementation, ensuring the integration of urban planning, disaster risk reduction, and resilience solutions. Key duties include developing, reviewing, and assuring the quality of technical products, methodologies, and planning instruments. This involves contributing to territorial diagnostics, vulnerability assessments, and urban analyses to identify opportunities for resilient urban interventions. The role requires supporting the integration of risk‑informed approaches into municipal planning and urban development strategies, as well as facilitating participatory planning processes and coordinating local institutional engagement.
