Responsibilities
- Own infrastructure products or subsystems end to end, including design, delivery, operation, and production accountability.
- Define project goals, success metrics, technical designs, and risk mitigation plans.
- Build secure, high-performing, resilient, and cost-efficient infrastructure for varied applications and workloads.
- Develop software and developer-facing tooling that improves engineering productivity and reduces toil.
- Manage infrastructure through Terraform and configuration patterns aligned with service architecture.
- Partner with product engineering teams to design services for scale and resolve ambiguous requirements.
- Participate in incident response, systematic debugging, monitoring improvements, and performance optimization.
- Apply security practices to personal work and peer reviews, including identifying vulnerabilities.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design feedback.
- Lead cross-team collaboration and facilitate technical and process discussions with stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6–10 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering in primarily cloud-based environments, with AWS preferred.
- Demonstrated ownership of significant products or subsystems through design, delivery, operation, and ongoing accountability.
- Strong hands-on experience managing infrastructure through Terraform or an equivalent tool.
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure fundamentals, including networking, load balancing, containerization, EKS/Kubernetes, and distributed systems.
- Production-ready programming skills in Go, Python, or a comparable language.
- Hands-on production experience operating Redis/ElastiCache, including cluster and shard management, failover, memory eviction policies, and scaling strategies.
- Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry, along with performance tuning and incident management.
- Fluency with software engineering practices including source control, code review, comprehensive testing, and safe deployment.
- Demonstrated autonomy, ownership, and ability to work with ambiguous requirements.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills for technical designs, reviews, and stakeholder updates.
