Android Engineer (Camera, AR & On-Device ML)
We hire people who think independently, own problems until they're actually closed, and communicate clearly — not a company that hides behind process.
The role We're looking for a Kotlin + Jetpack Compose engineer for a multi-module Kotlin Multiplatform codebase — no XML layouts, one Activity. The distinguishing work is camera-led: ARCore on the raw SDK with a hand-written OpenGL ES renderer, CameraX pipelines, and an on-device ML keypoint model running through LiteRT with a hardware-delegate cascade.
What you'll actually work on
Guided AR capture on raw ARCore: plane finding, hit-testing, anchors, depth modes, point clouds, device performance tiering
On-device inference: a keypoint model via LiteRT (NNAPI → GPU → CPU cascade), hand-written decoding, OpenCV for color conversion and perspective warp
CameraX pipelines: analyzer backpressure, UseCaseGroup/ViewPort alignment, manual focus metering
Compose feature work in the house pattern: destination, Hilt view model, use case, DAO, shared design-system components
Data layer:
Ktor + kotlinx.serialization, Room, DataStore, defensive decoding against inconsistent payloads
Cross-platform parity with the iOS client on capture geometry, camera intrinsics and depth encoding
What we need (must-haves)
4+ years shipping production Android in Kotlin with Compose as your primary UI toolkit
Comfortable in a large multi-module Gradle setup: version catalog, KSP, flavors × build types
Production fluency in StateFlow-driven MVVM/Hilt DI
Real CameraX experience: UseCaseGroup binding, backpressure, ViewPort/crop-rect geometry
ARCore against the raw SDK + enough OpenGL ES to modify a hand-written renderer
Testing discipline and comfort standing up Android CI across a variant matrix
Nice to have
LiteRT/TFLite model deployment with hardware delegates, OpenCV preprocessing
Kotlin Multiplatform (expect/vigente) experience, sensor fusion, Firebase Crashlytics/Performance
Comfort reading an iOS/
