TPC is currently offering an opportunity for an Electrical & Automation Engineer to join the Electrical Engineering Design team within the Project Operations Division. The engineer will contribute to a broad range of electrical and automation activities, including electrical design, PLC/HMI programming, component selection, industrial communication, technical documentation, manufacturing support, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning. The position includes occasional travel for training across Central and South America for training, installation support, testing, and commissioning activities.
QUALIFICATION: Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering and automation; 5+ years preferred
LANGUAGES: English (advanced written and spoken); French is a plus.

SKILLS
- Electrical Engineering: Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power and control circuits, electrical equipment, and component selection and sizing.
- Electrical Design & CAD: Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for creating and reviewing electrical schematics, wiring/interconnection diagrams, panel layouts, terminal plans, and related electrical drawings.
- PLC & HMI Automation: Proven experience in PLC/HMI programming, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting,
with proficiency in PLC programming languages such as LD, ST, and/or FBD
• Industrial Communication: Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and interfaces
(Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP3), network parameters, and IED configuration files (.icd/.cid); familiarity with electrical protection and control systems, including protection relays (e.g., Siemens SIPROTEC),
is a plus.
- BOM & ERP: Experience with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and creation of SAP material references
• Technical Analysis: Ability to analyze technical specifications, drawings, standards, and engineering requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions
• Professional Skills: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical subjects, make sound engineering decisions, and develop practical solutions independently; rigorous, detail-oriented, and team-oriented
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Electrical Design & Engineering: Review technical requirements and develop electrical designs for industrial equipment and systems, including control panels, power/control circuits, sensor interfaces, PLC systems, and communication equipment using AutoCAD Electrical
- Automation & Control: Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems, including control logic, alarms, interlocks, monitoring functions, and diagnostics
- Industrial Communication: Define, configure, test,
and document interfaces between TP equipment and external monitoring or SCADA systems using applicable communication protocols, dry contacts, and digital signals; prepare the required communication data, mapping tables, and configuration files
- Components & Procurement: Select and size electrical, automation, instrumentation, protection, and communication components; work with manufacturers, suppliers, and Purchasing to obtain technical information, quotations, availability, and suitable alternatives
- BOM & Material Management: Prepare and maintain BOMs and SAP material references, ensuring consistency with engineering and supplier documentation and supporting Production and Purchasing needs.
- Production Support: Provide technical support during manufacturing and assembly, clarify engineering requirements, and assist in resolving production-related technical issues.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, datasheets, specifications, communication documents, FAT/SAT documentation, O&M; manuals, and as-built records
- Testing & Field Support: Support FAT, SAT, installation, and commissioning activities; perform functional testing and provide remote or on-site troubleshooting when required.
- Continuous Improvement & Compliance: Contribute to engineering standardization and continuous improvement, stay current with relevant technologies and standards, and ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and engineering requirements
