About the role
The Financial Controller will prepare and reconcile monthly close activity, maintain SLT cost tracking and the weekly cash flash report, keep QuickBooks data clean and consistent, and coordinate (not formally supervise) submissions from the Staff Accountant, Bookkeeper, and country accountants.
The CFO retains ownership of financial strategy, budgeting, payroll, QuickBooks architecture, internal-control design, and the external audit relationship. This role is the reliable execution layer that makes those decisions possible — accurate, timely, and well-organized — while building the track record to grow into a Controller role as the organization and budget allow.
What will your day-to-day look like at MEDLIFE?
1. Monthly Close Support
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations (bank, credit card, intercompany) for CFO review; follow the established close calendar and flag items that need CFO decision.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation for all transactions you process.
2. QuickBooks Data Hygiene
- Keep the chart of accounts, classes, locations, and projects correctly tagged on day-to-day transactions, following the structure set by the CFO/consultant — not redesigning it.
- Flag inconsistent coding or gaps to the CFO rather than resolving them unilaterally.
3. SLT Cost Tracking & Unit Economics
- Maintain trip-level budget-vs-vigente trackers and unit-economics reporting (cost per participant, per participant-night, etc.) using the methodology already established.
- Flag trips trending over the 30–35% direct-cost target early, for CFO follow-up with operations.
4. Weekly Flash Report & Cash Visibility
- Compile the weekly cash and financial flash report (cash balances, receipts, payments, AR/AP) into the existing template.
- Maintain the rolling 13-week cash-flow forecast with CFO-provided assumptions.
5. Team & Country Coordination
- Follow up with the Staff Accountant, Bookkeeper, and country
