OUR CAMPUSES
Ponce Health Sciences University has campuses in Ponce and San Juan Puerto Rico, St. Louis, Missouri and Tortola, British Virgin Islands. PHSU BVI is an ACCM accredited university founded in 2025 and is in its second year of training future medical students.
THE POSITION The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the administration, coordination, and oversight of clinical education experiences for students enrolled in PHSU BVI health sciences programs.
The Clinical
Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between PHSU BVI, clinical affiliates, healthcare facilities, preceptors, faculty, and students to ensure high-quality clinical training experiences that support student learning outcomes, accreditation requirements, and institutional goals.
The incumbent will coordinate student clinical placements throughout the British Virgin Islands and other approved clinical training sites, monitor compliance requirements, maintain clinical records, and support the development and expansion of clinical partnerships that advance PHSU BVI's mission of excellence in education, research, and community engagement. This position directly supports PHSU BVI. Preferred candidate locations: FLORIDA, PUERTO RICO, BVI
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Clinical Education Coordination
- Coordinate clinical placements, rotations, and experiential learning opportunities for students.
- Develop and maintain clinical schedules in collaboration with faculty, clinical preceptors, and healthcare facilities.
- Monitor student completion of clinical requirements and competencies.
- Assist faculty with the evaluation of student clinical performance.
- Ensure clinical experiences align with program objectives and accreditation standards.
Clinical Site Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for hospitals, clinics,
healthcare providers, and community-based clinical partners.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clinical affiliates throughout the BVI and regional healthcare network.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation of clinical preceptors.
- Conduct site visits and maintain communication with clinical partners to ensure quality learning experiences.
- Assist in identifying and securing new clinical sites to support program growth.
Compliance and Documentation
- Monitor student compliance with all clinical requirements, including:
- Immunizations
- CPR certification
- Background checks
- Drug screenings (where required)
- Professional licensure and certifications
- HIPAA/confidentiality and patient safety training
- Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records.
- Track affiliation agreements and ensure timely renewals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accreditation standards, healthcare regulations, and university policies.
Student and Faculty Support
- Orient students to clinical expectations, policies, and professional standards.
- Provide guidance regarding clinical placement processes and requirements.
- Address concerns raised by students, faculty, preceptors, and clinical partners.
- Facilitate communication between students, faculty, and clinical sites.
- Support student success initiatives and retention efforts.
Program Assessment and Quality Improvement
- Collect and analyze data related to clinical placements, student performance, and preceptor evaluations.
- Prepare reports for academic leadership, accreditation reviews, and program assessment activities.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives related to clinical education.
- Assist with programmatic accreditation activities and site visits.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain clinical databases and tracking systems.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and clinical education documentation.
- Participate in University committees, meetings, and professional development activities.
- Support recruitment, admissions, orientation, and special events as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Dean and Vice President of Operations or designated supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare, academic administration, clinical education, or related areas.
- Experience coordinating clinical placements, internships, field experiences, or healthcare training programs preferred.
- Experience working within higher education or healthcare environments preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Health Sciences, Nursing, Education, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards applicable to health sciences education.
- Experience working with international and culturally diverse student populations.
- Familiarity with healthcare systems and providers within the British Virgin Islands, Caribbean and US regions.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel locally to clinical agencies and partner sites throughout the British Virgin Islands.
- Ability to sit, stand, and use computers and standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds.
