Database Performance Engineer (PostgreSQL) at BairesDev
As a Database Performance Engineer specializing in PostgreSQL, you will serve as a deep technical expert focused on optimizing the efficiency and reliability of our data systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring sub-second query times and high availability by identifying and resolving bottlenecks within complex, high-traffic database environments.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct deep-dive query plan analysis using EXPLAIN ANALYZE to identify and resolve performance hotspots.
- Fine-tune PostgreSQL autovacuum parameters and maintenance tasks to prevent table bloat and manage disk I/O.
- Optimize database configurations and memory settings, such as shared buffers and work_mem, to align with workload requirements.
- Design and implement advanced indexing strategies and partitioning schemes to improve data retrieval speeds.
- Implement connection pooling and session management strategies to enhance overall system throughput.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to establish SQL best practices and ensure scalable database design.
What we are looking for:
- 4+ years of experience in Database Engineering, Performance Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Proven expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, query plan analysis, and vacuum optimization.
- Proficiency in using EXPLAIN ANALYZE and pg_stat views to diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Hands-on experience with connection pooling solutions and extension-level optimization for PostgreSQL.
- Deep understanding of database internals, indexing strategies, and resource management.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
