Automated Roll Converting Technician
Location: Peru, IN
Compensation: $17.00/hour to start with scheduled increases up to approximately $19.00/hour
Schedule: Day and Night Shift Opportunities
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
A day in the life
You clock in to a clean, temperature-controlled facility operated by a well-established global manufacturer. On your cell, high-speed converting and winding machines are already humming. You begin by loading rolls or spools of raw material, verify setpoints, and run a quick visual check.
Calipers and tape measure in hand, you confirm dimensions and make a small adjustment to keep quality on spec. Throughout the shift, you watch product wind cleanly, stack finished goods, label and package them, and document results with precision.
When a minor jam appears, you’re ready: clear it safely, lubricate a bearing, and get the line back up without missing a beat. Between lots, you tidy your area, review the next order, and cross-train with a teammate on a different winding line. Your focus never leaves safety, quality, and uptime.
What you’ll handle
- Set up, operate, and continuously monitor high-speed winding and converting equipment
- Load raw materials (rolls/spools) and verify correct threading and alignment
- Inspect in-process and finished goods; perform dimensional checks for accuracy
- Use basic measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, etc.) to confirm specifications
- Stack, package, and organize finished products for downstream operations
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, clearing jams, light roller/bearing work)
- Make routine machine adjustments to sustain throughput and quality
- Keep a clean, organized workstation and complete required production/quality records
- Follow all safety, quality, and operating procedures; cross-train on additional equipment
What makes you a great fit
- 6+ months in manufacturing, production, or machine operation preferred
- Hands-on experience with high-speed or high-volume equipment strongly preferred

- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and quality
- Reliable attendance and a consistent work rhythm
- Physically able to stand for a full shift and perform repetitive activities (walking, lifting, twisting, bending, stacking)
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing Principles
Backgrounds that translate well
- Paper, packaging, or corrugated manufacturing
- Roll forming or metal processing
- Automotive, plastics, food and beverage
- Medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing
- High-speed converting or other automated production settings
Direct winding experience isn’t required—if you’ve run automated machinery and can make routine adjustments and basic fixes, we want to hear from you.
Where you’ll work
In a well-organized, temperature-controlled environment where automation is balanced by hands-on involvement. You’ll load materials, monitor equipment, inspect output, address small issues, and stack finished goods—staying active and engaged throughout your shift.
