About MAVI

MAVI places experienced finance and accounting professionals into senior, high-ownership roles at high-growth US companies.

We maintain a deliberately high bar on both sides of the placement. The companies we partner with are venture-backed and private equity-backed businesses building modern finance organizations, and the professionals we represent are operators with a track record of owning the numbers rather than supporting them from a distance.

The roles we place are embedded positions within the finance function itself. Our professionals work alongside founders, CFOs, Controllers, and senior finance leadership on the work that determines whether a business can close its books with confidence, satisfy its auditors, and scale its reporting as it grows.

Our team has built and scaled finance functions at companies including Lyft, Ramp, and SoftBank. We remain closely involved throughout the relationship, from role alignment and interview preparation through onboarding, placement, and long-term career development.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to own accounting operations across the LATAM entities of a high-growth US company.

This is a senior leadership position that remains substantively hands-on. You will be accountable for the close, the regional ledger, and the integrity of the books across every entity in scope, alongside full responsibility for local statutory reporting, tax compliance, and the relationships with local auditors and advisors in each market. You will also be the person who designs the close checklist, investigates the unreconciled balance through to its root cause, and rebuilds the processes that are no longer serving the business.

Reporting into US finance leadership, you will operate at the point where several distinct local reporting regimes meet a US-headquartered group reporting under US GAAP, and you will be trusted to reconcile them without either standard being compromised. Each LATAM market carries its own reporting framework, tax calendar, electronic invoicing regime, and functional currency, and holding a consistent standard across all of them is the core of the job.

The role will suit an accounting leader who is looking to own a region end to end, with both the judgment to identify what needs to be built and the appetite to build it personally.

What You'll Own

- The close. Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across the LATAM entities, with full accountability for the calendar, the quality of the output, and the cycle time.
- The regional general ledger. Own the ledger outright, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and explainability of the financial records in every market.
- Financial reporting. Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules under both local frameworks and group reporting requirements.
- Balance sheet integrity. Drive reconciliations across cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts, investigating discrepancies through to root cause.
- Multi-entity and multi-currency accounting. Own intercompany transactions and settlements, eliminations, foreign currency remeasurement and translation, and each entity's role within group consolidation.
- Statutory and regulatory compliance. Own local statutory books, tax filings, and regulatory submissions across the countries in scope,

including indirect tax and withholding obligations, electronic invoicing and reporting regimes, and payroll-related statutory contributions, coordinating with external advisors and local service providers and holding each to agreed standards and deadlines.
- Alignment with group reporting. Partner with US finance leadership to ensure regional accounting reconciles cleanly to group reporting and meets US GAAP requirements, including the local-GAAP-to-US-GAAP bridge for each entity.
- Technical review. Review revenue, expenses, accruals, prepayments, and other significant accounting entries for completeness and accuracy.
- Team development. Manage, review, and develop accountants and accounting team members across the region.
- Audit and assurance. Serve as the primary point of contact for external and statutory audits, tax authority reviews and examinations, and other financial reviews in each market.
- Issue resolution. Identify accounting and operational issues early and drive them through to resolution rather than escalation.
- Regional ownership. Act as the principal accounting point of contact for local finance teams, US leadership, external auditors, tax advisors, and other accounting partners.
- Policies and controls. Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, close checklists, and internal controls across all regional entities, so that the same standard applies in every country.
- Process improvement. Introduce automation, eliminate manual effort, and compress the close cycle without compromising accuracy.
- Systems. Support ERP implementations, entity setup, chart-of-accounts design, and broader accounting system improvements, including localisation requirements for each market.
- Cross-functional partnership. Work with FP&A; and US finance leadership to ensure management reporting reconciles to accounting results.

What We're Looking For

- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including a period in which you personally owned close and reporting for an entity or region rather than contributing to it
- Strong accounting fundamentals and sound financial reporting judgment, with a working command of IFRS and the local frameworks applicable in your markets, and experience supporting US GAAP reporting preferred
- Direct experience owning accounting operations across multiple LATAM countries, with hands-on responsibility for local statutory reporting and tax compliance in each
- Practical familiarity with the region's tax and reporting regimes in the markets you have covered, such as SAT and CFDI requirements in Mexico, SPED and NF-e obligations in Brazil, DIAN electronic invoicing in Colombia, or SII requirements in Chile
- Demonstrated ownership of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close on an independent basis
- First-hand experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, consolidations, and foreign currency accounting in a genuinely multi-currency environment, including remeasurement and translation
- A track record of building accounting processes from the ground up,

or of taking on underperforming processes and rebuilding them
- Comfort operating within a lean team, with the seniority to own the region and the willingness to prepare the entry yourself when circumstances require it
- Experience managing local statutory accounting, tax, payroll, and social contribution obligations across multiple LATAM jurisdictions
- A history of holding external accounting firms, auditors, tax advisors, and local providers accountable to deliverables and deadlines; experience managing a statutory audit or a tax authority examination end to end is a significant advantage
- Substantial ERP experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Xero, or a comparable platform, alongside familiarity with modern finance tooling such as Ramp, Brex, Bill.com, Deel, Rippling, Gusto, or Avalara
- A leading or core role in an ERP migration, accounting system implementation, or close automation initiative is highly regarded
- Experience reviewing and developing accountants or accounting teams
- Experience working directly with US-based finance leadership or a integral finance organization
- Experience building or scaling accounting operations within a multinational, venture-backed, private equity-backed, or high-growth company, with SaaS, technology, or recurring-revenue accounting experience preferred
- Exposure to transfer pricing documentation and intercompany agreements across the region is welcome, as is experience with inflation-adjusted or hyperinflationary reporting where applicable
- A Big 4, mid-tier audit, accounting firm, or outsourced accounting background is welcome
- The ability to maintain meaningful overlap with US business hours
- A local accounting qualification such as Contador Público or an equivalent professional registration, or an international qualification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or CIMA, strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Who This Role Is For

This role is well suited to an accounting leader who is comfortable working at the intersection of several LATAM statutory regimes and a US-headquartered finance organization, and who can hold every one of them to a consistent level of quality.

You are detail-oriented without losing sight of the broader picture, comfortable carrying multiple entities, currencies, and overlapping filing calendars concurrently, and equally credible in conversation with a local accounting team, an external auditor, and a US-based Controller or CFO.

Above all, you identify issues early, communicate them clearly to the people who need to know, and take ownership of the resolution.

Why Join Through MAVI

- Own the accounting function for a US company's LATAM operations, end to end
- Work directly with US finance leaders, founders, Controllers, and external advisors as an embedded member of the finance team
- Join companies building modern finance functions rather than maintaining legacy ones
- Develop genuine expertise in international accounting, multi-entity reporting, and cross-border finance
- Progress toward Controller and Head of Finance opportunities through MAVI
- Take on high-ownership work with visible impact on the business

Work Arrangement

This is a remote role based in LATAM, with meaningful overlap with US business hours. You will work directly with US-based finance leadership while owning regional accounting operations and statutory compliance across the entities in scope.
