POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Temporary Senior Accountant will support payroll accounting, general ledger activities, month-end close, financial reporting, grant expense accounting, audit preparation, and process improvements. This position will work closely with the Controller, General Hub departments, and country finance teams to maintain accurate financial records, timely reporting, and strong internal controls.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:

Payroll Accounting

- Import payroll journal entries into the accounting system (NetSuite)
- Reconcile payroll activity, deductions, and related liability accounts.
- Investigate and resolve payroll accounting discrepancies.
- Serve as a finance contact for payroll accounting and reporting matters.
- Maintain internal controls over payroll accounting and general accounting processes.

General Ledger and Month-End Close

- Prepare and post journal entries into the accounting system (NetSuite).
- Complete general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Analyze and resolve accounting variances and unusual balances.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and properly supported financial records.
- Manage fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and vacation accruals.
- Record financial transactions using appropriate classifications, coding, and documentation.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

- Assist with monthly and annual financial statements preparation. (U.S. GAAP knowledge is preferred)
- Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts and income statement activity
- Support monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as requested.

Audit, Systems, and Process Support

- Support the preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for the annual external audit.
- Assist with maintaining and documenting accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide backup support for accounts payable, employee-expense reporting, and daily bank reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS,



KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA or equivalent professional designation preferred.
- Bilingual English and Spanish proficiencyAt least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP is preferred, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience with payroll accounting and payroll-related account reconciliations.
- Experience with nonprofit or grant-funded organizations preferred.
- NetSuite and ADP experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a multicurrency or international organization is beneficial.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Four-month temporary position
- Fully remote position based in Honduras, Peru or Guatemala
- Reliable internet connection required
- Ability to work outside regular business hours to collaborate with team members and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
- Candidates must be citizens of, or legally authorized to work in the country of residence.
