Position Overview The Continuity Specialist is a adaptable, cross-functional role designed to provide temporary coverage when an Edge talent is unavailable due to planned or unexpected leave, such as maternity leave, medical leave, vacation, or other extended absences.
Continuity Specialists remain available within the Continuity Talent Pool and may be assigned to temporary client engagements based on their experience, skills, and the specific requirements of each opportunity.
When not assigned to a temporary coverage role, Continuity Specialists support Edge operations, Marketplace, and Edge EDU initiatives, helping ensure they remain productive while staying prepared for future continuity assignments.
Key Responsibilities
Temporary Coverage & Client Support
- Step into temporary client assignments when an existing Edge talent is unavailable due to leave or other extended absences.
- Quickly adapt to the client's workflows, systems, processes, and communication standards.
- Perform the responsibilities and daily tasks associated with the temporary assignment while maintaining the same quality and productivity expectations as the assigned talent.
- Ensure a smooth transition into and out of each temporary assignment, maintaining continuity of service for the client.
- Communicate proactively with Edge and client stakeholders regarding workload, priorities, challenges, and handover requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working across different client environments and accounts.
- Remain flexible regarding temporary assignments and be prepared to support different functions based on professional experience and business needs.
Insurance Verification & Eligibility
- Conduct comprehensive eligibility checks and benefits verification for patients prior to scheduled appointments.
- Accurately interpret insurance policies and guidelines, including PPO, HMO, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Determine patient financial responsibilities, including deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.
- Accurately document eligibility and benefits information within the practice management system.
- Communicate insurance and benefits information clearly and professionally with patients and internal teams.
Prior Authorization Management
- Prepare, compile, and submit prior authorization requests through insurance portals, fax, and phone.
- Review clinical documentation, including progress notes, lab results, and physician orders, to ensure required information is available.
- Track pending authorizations and follow up proactively with insurance providers.
- Support the appeals process for denied authorizations when required.
- Expedite urgent authorization requests to help prevent delays in patient care.
Scheduling & Patient-Centric Communication
- Handle inbound and outbound patient calls to schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments.
- Manage provider calendars efficiently to optimize clinic workflows and minimize scheduling gaps.
- Send appointment reminders and conduct proactive patient outreach when required.
- Ensure patient documentation and scheduling activities are completed accurately and on time.
- Provide professional and patient-centered communication across phone, email, and other approved communication channels.
Additional Healthcare Operations
Referral Management
- Coordinate patient referrals, verify requirements, and track referral status.
- Follow up with providers, patients, and insurance companies to prevent delays.
Telehealth Coordination
- Coordinate telehealth appointments and ensure patients have the required information and documentation.
- Support scheduling, patient communication, and basic access issues.
Prescription Coordination
- Coordinate prescription requests and refills with patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies.
- Track pending requests and resolve basic coverage or authorization issues.
Relationship Management & Talent Support When not assigned to a temporary client engagement, the Continuity Specialist may support Relationship Management operations, including:
- Responding to talent questions and support tickets.
- Assisting Relationship Managers with talent-related requests and follow-ups.
- Supporting Marketplace operational projects and administrative tasks.
- Helping maintain accurate and up-to-date talent information and documentation.
- Supporting other operational priorities based on business needs.
Edge EDU & Learning & Development Support Continuity Specialists may also support Edge EDU and Learning & Development initiatives based on their area of expertise.
- Support final certification assessments by evaluating candidate demos, roleplays, and other practical assessments.
- Participate as a panelist or assessor for certifications aligned with their professional expertise.
- Support live training sessions by leading portions of training, facilitating activities, or participating as a subject matter expert.
- Share real-world knowledge, best practices, and client experience with candidates during training sessions.
- Provide constructive feedback to candidates during assessments and learning activities.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with US-based clients is mandatory.
- Availability to work full-time on any US timezone: PST/EST/CST/MST
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, workflows, and client processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Comfortable working across different teams, clients, and business functions.
- Strong adaptability and willingness to take on temporary assignments based on business needs.
- Professional English communication skills.
- Reliable availability to transition into temporary assignments when required.
- Experience with healthcare, insurance, scheduling, customer service, or administrative operations is preferred for healthcare-related continuity assignments.
Work Model This is a full-time position within Edge's Continuity Talent Pool.
Continuity Specialists may be temporarily assigned to client accounts when coverage is required. Assignment duration and responsibilities may vary depending on the leave period and client requirements.
When no temporary client assignment is active, the Continuity Specialist will support Marketplace, Edge EDU, Learning & Development, or other Edge operational initiatives based on business priorities.
The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and readiness to transition between assignments while maintaining a high standard of service and performance.
