We are looking for a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team and support business-critical database environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.
This role is idóneo for a DBA with strong hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server, cloud database services, performance optimization, security, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and automation, who is comfortable collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders in an international environment.
? What you’ll do
You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, integrity, and operational continuity of Microsoft SQL Server environments.
Your responsibilities will include
- Administering, monitoring, maintaining, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server in on-premises and cloud environments.
- Managing Azure SQL, SQL Server on Azure VMs, and AWS RDS for SQL Server.
- Installing, configuring, patching, and upgrading SQL Server instances.
- Managing users, roles, permissions, service accounts, security baselines, and encryption controls.
- Monitoring and optimizing queries, indexes, execution plans, statistics, CPU, memory, storage, and transaction logs.
- Performing integrity checks, statistics updates, index maintenance, purging, and other routine DBA activities.
- Implementing and validating backup, restore, and recovery strategies, including periodic restoration testing.
- Supporting High Availability, clustering, replication, failover, and SQL Server Always On environments.
- Supporting AWS RDS for SQL Server Multi-AZ configurations when applicable.
- Participating in Disaster Recovery exercises and maintaining recovery procedures and documentation.
- Managing privileged DBA credentials through CyberArk or equivalent Privileged Access Management solutions.
- Participating in vulnerability assessments,
security patching, and remediation activities.
- Troubleshooting performance, connectivity, availability, blocking, locking, and data integrity issues.
- Performing proactive capacity planning and database growth monitoring.
- Supporting database refreshes, data purges, extractions, migrations, and other data movement activities.
- Planning and executing on-premises and cloud migrations and upgrades, minimizing downtime and protecting data integrity.
- Providing operational support for SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory ETL processes.
- Developing and maintaining T-SQL and PowerShell scripts to automate routine DBA activities.
- Participating in Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD initiatives related to database environments.
- Using GitHub and/or Bitbucket for version control of scripts and configurations.
- Participating in Incident, Problem, Change, Security, and Disaster Recovery Management processes.
- Collaborating with development teams on database design, stress testing, and application/database performance tuning.
- Participating in on-call support rotations outside regular business hours when required.
? What we’re looking for
✔ 3–5+ years of professional database administration experience, with relevant hands-on Microsoft SQL Server expertise.
✔ Experience administering SQL Server in production environments.
✔ Strong knowledge of T-SQL, SQL Server administration, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
✔ Experience with performance tuning, indexes, execution plans, and query optimization.
✔ Experience with backup, restore, recovery, and database integrity checks.
✔ Practical knowledge of SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery.
✔ Knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory.
✔ Experience managing database users, roles, permissions, authentication, security baselines, and encryption.
✔ Experience performing SQL Server patching and upgrades.
✔ Operational knowledge of AWS RDS for SQL Server and/or Azure SQL.
✔ Knowledge of SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory.
✔ Experience using PowerShell for scripting and automation.
✔ Experience or practical knowledge of CyberArk or similar Privileged Access Management solutions.
✔ Knowledge of database-related networking concepts, including DNS, ports, firewalls, and SSL/TLS.
✔ Experience with ticketing and Change Management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalent platforms.
✔ Familiarity with GitHub and/or Bitbucket.
✔ Advanced spoken and written English is mandatory, with the ability to participate in technical meetings, manage incidents, document solutions, and communicate daily with US-based teams and stakeholders.
⭐ Nice to have
Experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, AWS EC2, Azure VMs, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, or similar enterprise monitoring platforms.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database changes and Microsoft, Azure, or AWS database-related certifications will also be highly valued.
