We're looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join Kin Analytics on a 5-month project, leading the design, implementation, and governance of a modern enterprise data platform on Microsoft Fabric.
This role blends hands-on data engineering with architectural ownership — defining how data is modeled, integrated, governed, and made trustworthy to support analytics and AI-driven decision-making across the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering and Data Architecture roles
- 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure data technologies
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Data Factory, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, OneLake, Real-Time Intelligence, Semantic Models, and Power BI integration
- Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks and data integration methodologies
- Extensive experience with SQL and data modeling techniques
- Experience implementing enterprise data governance and data quality frameworks
- Solid understanding of metadata management, lineage, cataloging, and master data management (MDM)
- Experience with Python, Spark, PySpark, and distributed data processing frameworks
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies
Nice to Have
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-700)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
- Experience with Purview or other data governance platforms
- Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, or similar modern data platforms
- Knowledge of machine learning and AI data pipelines
- Experience leading enterprise-scale data transformation initiatives
- Knowledge of Data Mesh and Data Products concepts
- Experience with data observability and monitoring tools
- Exposure to Generative AI and AI-enabled analytics platforms
- Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code
Key Responsibilities Data Architecture & Platform Design
- Design and implement scalable, secure, high-performance data architecture using Microsoft Fabric
- Define data models, integration patterns, and data lifecycle strategy aligned to business needs
- Architect Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and Medallion patterns to support analytical and operational workloads
- Establish best practices for data storage, metadata management, and accessibility
Data Engineering & Integration
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory and related tools
- Design and optimize ingestion for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources
- Build scalable solutions for batch and near real-time processing
- Ensure pipeline reliability, performance, and maintainability
Data Governance & Quality
- Define and implement enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, and controls
- Lead data quality initiatives: profiling, validation, cleansing, monitoring, remediation
- Establish metadata management, lineage, MDM, and data stewardship processes
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
Analytics & Business Enablement
- Partner with business stakeholders and analysts to deliver data-driven solutions
- Enable self-service analytics and support advanced reporting environments
- Support AI/ML initiatives by ensuring trusted, high-quality data assets
Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to data engineers on the project
- Promote architecture standards and engineering best practices across the team
What Success Looks Like By the end of the engagement, this person will have:
- Delivered a working Fabric-based data platform (Lakehouse/Warehouse) supporting priority analytics use cases
- Stood up core data governance practices — lineage, quality checks, metadata standards — that the team can sustain after the project ends
- Left clear documentation and a knowledge-transfer plan, given the temporary nature of the engagement
- Built trust with business stakeholders as a reliable, high-impact technical partner
