- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- As a Director of Learning
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health and recreation education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual, or team sports to secondary pupils, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program,



adapting daily schedules to accommodate weather conditions and to provide time for changing clothes, showers, instruction, exercise, and sports activities
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, aquatics, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement
- Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, to the extent feasible
- Researches and develops appropriate innovative activities with District approval…utilizing available resources
- May teach one or more extra-curricular classes
- Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to insure the overall safety of pupils
- Maintains surveillance over storage and use of such items as school-owned uniforms, towels, lockers, equipment, and supplies to prevent loss or abuse, working through student monitors or
