POSITION TITLE: Assistant Coach

STATUS: Stipend

REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Athletic Director, Head Coach

POSITION SUMMARY: The coach is responsible for supporting the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes. This includes fostering skill development, promoting sportsmanship, emphasizing discipline, and creating a safe and inclusive team environment aligned with district policies and MSHSAA guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instruct student-athletes in sport-specific skills, strategies, and physical conditioning.
- Promote character development, leadership, teamwork, and respect.
- Serve as a positive role model consistent with school and district expectations.
- Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete eligibility requirements.
- Plan, organize, and conduct structured practices throughout the season.
- Develop game strategies and supervise athletes during contests.
- Coordinate scheduling of games, transportation, and facilities with the Athletic Director.
- Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions.




- Ensure compliance with all district policies and Missouri State High School Activities Association rules and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, eligibility, physicals, and insurance documentation.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, administration, and staff.
- Attend required meetings, clinics, and professional development sessions.
- Ensure the safety and proper supervision of all student-athletes.
- Inspect and maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
- Enforce health and safety protocols, including concussion awareness and emergency procedures.
- Recommend and manage equipment, uniforms, and supply needs within budget guidelines.
- Assist in program development, including youth outreach and offseason activities (if applicable).
- Support multi-level programs (freshman, JV, varsity) and collaborate with other coaches.
