Principal Bookkeeper and Accounts Manager for Real Estate Team

Overview:
- Join our real estate investment team Stadium District Flats, overseeing a growing portfolio of 70+ units and active residential development projects.
- We are looking for a Finance &
- Accounting Lead to manage bookkeeping, financial reporting, and loan documentation.
- This role supports the owner, accountant, and property management team by maintaining accurate financial records and preparing reports for banks, lenders, and investors.
- The position plays an important role in building the financial systems needed to support the company’s long-term growth.
10-Year Goal:
- Support the growth of the company toward building a $100M real estate portfolio and finance team capable of managing increasing Assets Under Management (AUM).
- The Principal Bookkeeper &
- Accounts Manager will support the Finance &
- Accounting Lead by maintaining organized financial records, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and providing timely financial documentation to support property acquisitions, development projects, lender relationships, investor reporting, and the company's long-term growth.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee, manage, and ensure accurate record keeping of all financial transactions related to the company.
- Assist the Finance &
- Accounting Lead in preparing monthly financial statements, including Budget vs. Actual reports, Balance Sheets, Income Statements, Cash Flow Statements, and supporting schedules.
- Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely payment of invoices and efficient collection of revenues.
- Manage vendor and customer accounts, ensuring account balances, transactions, and records remain accurate and up to date.
- Monitor outstanding receivables, vendor balances, and account discrepancies, and coordinate timely resolution of accounting issues.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, loan accounts, and other financial documents regularly.
- Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments.
- Collaborate with the Property Management Team to manage and execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings.
- Assist the Finance &
- Accounting Lead with budget preparation, budget tracking, and Budget vs. Vigente reporting.
- Assist the Finance &
- Accounting Lead in maintaining and updating weekly Finance Team KPIs and performance scorecards.
- Process payroll and ensure timely and accurate compensation for employees and independent contractors.
- Prepare annual 1099 forms for vendors and independent contractors.
- Track management fees, owner billings, and intercompany transactions.
- Maintain vendor records, tenant accounts,
and financial documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for CPA, Owner, lenders, investors, and management.
- Assist the Finance &
- Accounting Lead with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and special accounting projects.
- Assist the Finance &
- Accounting Lead in preparing quarterly financial review presentations and supporting financial reports.
- Assist with tax planning and tax return preparation by providing accurate financial records and supporting documentation to the CPA.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, process improvements, workflow automation, and best practices to improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain complete and accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up to date with accounting software, tools, and industry best practices.
- Leverage AI tools and automation to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of financial records and company information.
- Identify accounting discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, and escalate significant issues to the Finance &
- Accounting Lead.
- Support other duties as assigned to ensure the success of a small, innovative, and growing team
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Proven track record of maintaining accurate financial records and preparing financial statements.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounting projects and priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, adapt to changing environments, and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with financial regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements.
- Must be extremely detail-oriented.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and oral communication skills and confident personality
- Ability to thrive in a remote work environment,
being conscious of differing time zones between team members for scheduling and communication purposes
- Demonstrated experience working closely with high-level executives; adept at receiving, processing, and acting on direct and candid feedback from senior leadership
Training &
- Compensation:
- Base Rate: $5/hour during the training phase. Candidates must successfully complete the Bookkeeping Tier Training Program (Tier 1–4). Upon successful completion of Tier 4 Certification, the hourly rate will increase by 10% to $5.50/hour.

- Full-Time Commitment: This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week.
- Exclusive Work Hours: This role is remote and offers location flexibility; however, it requires full dedication during scheduled work hours. Team members must remain fully present and engaged. Working another job, operating a separate business, or performing unrelated paid or volunteer work during these hours is strictly prohibited.
- Time Tracking &
- Productivity: This role requires the use of time tracking and productivity software (Hubstaff or equivalent) for tracking work hours, billing, and performance visibility. This includes activity levels, time tracking, and periodic screenshots while the timer is running. This supports transparency, accountability, accurate pay, and a focused, productive remote work environment.
- Independent Business: The contractor may provide services to other clients, is responsible for applicable taxes and insurance, will provide their own equipment and workspace, and will not be eligible for employee benefits.
