Job Description :
The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for one (1) Information Management Intern to provide support to Digital & Data Department in Lima, Peru.

Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the execution and refinement of AI-assisted workflows to support systematic literature reviews, to summarize large volumes of documents and reports, and to extract and organize scientific information.
- Using AI tools to enrich and standardize metadata (subject tagging, keyword extraction, draft abstracts) to improve discoverability and interoperability, in line with CGIAR metadata standards.
- Documenting these workflows as repeatable, shareable procedures (step-by-step SOPs and prompt templates) that the Knowledge Management team can reuse.
- Supporting the validation of AI-generated outputs against source documents and institutional standards, flagging errors, gaps and possible bias, and applying responsible-AI practices.
- Prioritizing and digitizing high-value historical and current CIP documents and applying OCR so they become machine-readable.
- Supporting the structuring and description of digitized content (clean text, metadata, provenance) following FAIR and AI-readiness principles and preparing content for potencial use in the “Ask Papa” assistant and other AI knowledge tools.
- Quality-checking OCR output and organizing files and collections so they are ready for ingestion, preservation and incorporation into the institutional repository.
- Uploading, depositing and maintaining institutional publications in CGSpace, verifying the consistency of records.
- Reviewing and improving metadata quality, ensuring standardization and interoperability per CGIAR metadata standards.
- Supporting verification of editorial, legal and technical elements of publications (DOI, licenses, citations and legal deposit) prior to incorporation into the repository.
- Searching for and retrieving scientific literature in institutional resources (Web of Science, Cambridge Core, Springer, Nature, CABI).
- Supporting the preparation of metrics reports and publication statistics.
- Supporting the organization, mapping and cleanup of thematic collections within the repository.
- Other related activities assigned within the framework of the area's functions.
Requirements
What are we looking for?
- Graduated in Information Science, Library Science, Information Management, or related fields.
- Understanding of open access, open science and institutional repository management.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude or similar) and basic prompting, with an interest in applying them responsibly to knowledge work.
- Interest in or exposure to document digitization and OCR, and in structuring content so it is machine-readable.
- Command of office software; knowledge of metadata, digital repositories or bibliographic-management tools is desirable.
- Intermediate-level English proficiency, enabling the reading and comprehension of scientific literature.
- Familiarity with CGSpace, ORCID or data-analysis tools is valued.
