Software Engineer (Query Engine) at BairesDev

As a Software Engineer specializing in Query Engines, you will design and optimize the core components that drive high-performance data retrieval. You will act as a bridge between high-level query languages and low-level execution, ensuring that complex analytical workloads are processed with maximum efficiency and minimal latency.

What You'll Do

- Design and implement sophisticated query planners and cost-based optimizers to generate efficient execution paths.
- Develop high-performance execution engines using vectorized processing and SIMD instructions to leverage modern CPU architectures.
- Optimize columnar storage interactions to minimize I/O and maximize data throughput for analytical queries.
- Build and refine query engine internals,



including join algorithms, aggregation frameworks, and sorting mechanisms.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to integrate specialized query engines into broader data platform architectures.

What We Are Looking For

- 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on database internals or query engines.
- Proven expertise in developing query engine internals, including query planners, optimizers, and execution engines.
- Proficiency in systems programming with Java or C++.
- Deep understanding of columnar storage formats such as Apache Parquet or Iceberg and vectorized execution.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
