The Technical Product Owner
Tech PO is responsible for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the development team. The role involves close collaboration with the Product Manager, business owners and development teams to translate high‑level product vision and strategy into actionable technical user stories and tasks. The Tech PO ensures that the team understands the product requirements and works to deliver high‑quality increments that meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Backlog Management
- Own and manage user stories within the product backlog, ensuring it is up to date, prioritized, and aligned with the roadmap.
- Write clear, concise technical user stories with acceptance criteria, definition of ready, and definition of done.
- Continuously refine backlog with architects, tech leads, developers and QA testers.
- Estimate stories based on story points to define capacity per iteration.
- Technical Guidance & Leadership
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams,
ensuring solutions align with product requirements and business goals.
- Collaborate with technology solutions architects and integration engineers to design and implement feasible solutions.
- Review technical designs and product increments to ensure they meet quality standards, safety, and documentation requirements.
- Lead hands‑on management of technical user stories covering development, code review, testing, security operations, UAT, release and deployment.
- Agile Practices
- Work under scrum, kanban, or safe frameworks; manage planning, reviews, refinements and grooming.
- Participate in sprint planning, ensuring clear understanding of requirements and priorities.
- Provide timely feedback during sprints and facilitate continuous improvement activities.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with the Product Manager to understand vision, priorities and strategy.
