Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Quality and Operations Manager, the incumbent is responsible for performing routine grounds work including care and maintenance of lawn, exterior plants, trees, shrubs; landscaping; utilizing appropriate pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers; and performing a variety of related duties.

Qualifications
- Education/Certification:
- Complete Grade 12 education
- Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience required
- Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
- Thorough knowledge of commercial landscape gardening and grounds maintenance practices
- Knowledge of different types of trees, shrubs, plants, lawns and their production and care
- Knowledge of herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers and their uses
- Ability to operate lawn tractors and grass cutting equipment
- Knowledge of WHMIS and safety standards
- Flexibility in responding to changing work demands

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs routine grounds work (cutting grass, planting and watering flowers and shrubs, etc.)
- Operates power equipment to ensure the regular maintenance of Eden Mental Health Centre grounds.
- Acts as a resource person for labourers assisting with grounds work; providing advice and assistance and recommending appropriate actions.
- Inspects work performed by labourers to ensure it is completed to standards.
- In conjunction with the manager, prepares schedule of daily work activities and prioritizes urgent tasks.
- Ensures that the grounds comply with all safety regulations.
