A senior, hands-on environmental permitting leader is required to own the approvals pathway for a brownfield copper operation and a strategically important expansion in southern Peru. The immediate priority is to lead the critical path for the MEIA-d (modification of the detailed environmental impact assessment), integrate environmental studies with engineering, and prevent permitting from becoming the constraint on project schedule and value.

This is an owner's-team role with direct exposure to senior operating and technical leadership. It is not a corporate ESG reporting or communications position. Success requires deep knowledge of Peru's mining and environmental framework, enough engineering fluency to understand design choices, and the credibility to explain those choices clearly to authorities and stakeholders.

Responsabilities

- MEIA-d critical path. Lead the end-to-end route from strategy and study planning through submission, authority observations, response and final authorization.
- Consultants and studies. Define scopes, select and direct advisers, challenge technical quality, protect schedule and budget, and retain institutional knowledge inside the owner's team.
- Engineering integration. Work closely with mine, plant and infrastructure engineers so permit requirements, alternatives and environmental constraints are addressed before design decisions become sunk cost.
- Authority engagement. Lead technically sound, ethical engagement with SENACE and ANA and coordinate with SERFOR, the Ministry of Culture, MINEM, OEFA and other competent authorities as applicable.
- Observation management. Prepare clear, evidence-based responses to regulator questions; decide when the right answer is clarification, additional data, mitigation or redesign.

- Environmental risk. Guide work on flora and fauna, long-lived cactus species and footprint alternatives; dust, noise and vibration near potential receptors; chemical inputs, transport and logistics; water demand, closed‑loop/no‑discharge design; and workforce and camp capacity.
- Permitting governance. Maintain the integrated permit and commitments roadmap, screen project changes, surface risk early and ensure approvals do not delay the expansion program.
- Stakeholder relationships. Maintain credible institutional relationships with authorities and local actors, supported by disciplined documentation and close coordination with operations, legal and community relations.

Requirements

- Approximately 20-25 years of relevant experience preferred; direct approvals ownership and judgment will carry more weight than tenure alone.
- Evidence of personally leading at least one material Peru mining environmental approval from strategy through observations and final decision.
- Strong command of Peruvian environmental and mining permitting laws, instruments and authority processes.
- Owner/operator accountability, or exceptional evidence of acting as the owner's strategic lead; consulting experience alone is not sufficient.
- Technical degree in engineering, environmental science or a related field, with the ability to understand and challenge multidisciplinary engineering and environmental work.
- Working professional English.
- Experience in copper, open-pit, SX-EW/leach, brownfield restart or expansion environments is highly valued.
- Calm, ethical and persuasive with regulators; practical with operations; structured with documentation; comfortable working hands‑on in a lean organization.
