The Technical Product Owner
Tech PO is responsible for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the development team. This role involves close collaboration with the Product Manager, Business Owners, and development teams to translate high-level product vision and strategy into actionable user technical stories and tasks.
The Technical Product Owner ensures that the team understands the product requirements and works to deliver high-quality increments that meet business needs.
TPO’s are needed (instead of PO’s) where products are highly technical and require frequent ‘Tech Enablers’ to drive business features.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Backlog Management:
• Own and manage their assign team’s user stories within the product backlog, ensuring it is up to date, prioritized (based on stakeholder feedback, business value, and changing requirements); and aligned with the product roadmap and strategic direction set by the Product Manager.
• Write clear, concise, and actionable technical user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, definition of ready and definition of done.
• Continuously refine the backlog within the team members (Architect, tech leads, developers, QA Testers).
