Software Engineer (Query Engine) at BairesDev

As a Software Engineer specializing in Query Engines, you will design and optimize the core components that drive high-performance data retrieval. You will act as a bridge between high-level query languages and low-level execution, ensuring that complex analytical workloads are processed with maximum efficiency and minimal latency.

What You'll Do

Design and implement sophisticated query planners and cost-based optimizers to generate efficient execution paths.




Develop high-performance execution engines using vectorized processing and SIMD instructions to leverage modern CPU architectures.
Optimize columnar storage interactions to minimize I/O and maximize data throughput for analytical queries.
Build and refine query engine internals, including join algorithms, aggregation frameworks, and sorting mechanisms.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams to integrate specialized query engines into broader data platform architectures.

What We Are Looking For

4+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on database internals or query engines.
Proven expertise in developing query engine internals, including query planners, optimizers, and execution engines.
Proficiency in systems programming with Java or C++.
Deep understanding of columnar storage formats such as Apache Parquet or Iceberg and vectorized execution.
Advanced proficiency in English.
