Quality Director

Position Overview:
This role is responsible for establishing consistency in quality standards, analytical methods, and problem-resolution practices, while driving flawless execution of site quality programs. The Quality Director serves as the single point of accountability for quality system effectiveness, nonconformance response, and continuous improvement across the enterprise.
Working through strong influence rather than direct authority, this position partners closely with site Quality teams, Operations, Commercial, and Innovation & Sustainability to reduce variability, prevent failures, improve customer satisfaction, and protect Epsilyte's reputation as a high-quality producer of expandable polystyrene (EPS).
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain a
Integral Quality Management System (QMS)
that defines common expectations, standards, and best practices across all manufacturing sites
Provide functional leadership to site Quality Supervisors and Technicians, ensuring consistent application of quality principles while respecting local operational realities
Establish meaningful
quality metrics and dashboards
to track performance, identify trends, and enable fact-based decision making across the organization
Partner with Operations leaders to embed quality into daily management systems, operational discipline, and production decision-making
Develop and execute a
Quality Improvement Roadmap , focusing on scrap and rework reduction, inventory optimization, and prevention of recurring failures
Drive
standardization of laboratory methods, testing protocols, and QA/QC processes
to reduce variability and improve product consistency
Own the
Non-Conformance Report (NCR)
and customer complaint process , ensuring timely containment, root-cause analysis, and data-driven corrective and preventive actions
Ensure compliance with established
regulatory and product certification requirements
(UL, FM, FDA, etc.) and facilitate customer quality audits when requested
Ensure operational compliance with established raw material and finished product specifications; conduct periodic reviews of product specifications as needed
Maintain
raw material and finished product specifications
in our ERP system
Perform additional duties as assigned or interested
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Quality, Operations, or a related technical field (certifications such as Six Sigma, ASQ, or equivalent are a plus)
Minimum of
5 years
of progressive experience in manufacturing, quality, QA/QC, or process improvement roles
Strong working knowledge of laboratory testing, statistical analysis, root cause methodologies, and preventive quality tools
Proven ability to influence without formal authority and drive alignment between cross-functional and site-based teams; requires a high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability
Demonstrated experience building or improving Quality Management Systems in a multi-site or matrixed environment is preferred
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, from executive discussions to plant-floor engagement
Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and the ability to create documents and reports in Microsoft Office Word, Excel,
and Power Point
Proficiency with statistical analysis software, quality tools, and systems like LIMS or ERP

No formal direct reports; success is driven through influence, alignment, and strong cross-functional partnership
This is an on-site role with location flexibility; can be based in The Woodlands, TX; Peru, IL; Piqua, OH; or Baie D'Urfe, Quebec
Travel required (approximately 25%)
Salary and comprehensive benefits commensurate with experience. Base compensation may be more or less than the posted salary range, and the range may change in the future.
