Overview
The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Analyst II assists in the execution of the Bank’s BSA/AML Compliance Program. This individual will help detect unusual or suspicious activity in a timely manner to safeguard the Bank’s integrity and ensure compliance with BSA/AML and OFAC regulations.
Base pay range
$60,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze AML Alerts generated from a transaction monitoring system to identify potential suspicious activity. Review and investigate Questionable Activity Referrals (QARs) in a timely manner.
- Analyze and research complex information and submit comprehensive recommendations regarding potentially suspicious and/or high-risk activity.
- Conduct complex and thorough case investigations resulting in SAR or No SAR decisions.
- Prepare SARs within required deadlines for submission to FinCEN.
- Perform 90-Day SAR Reviews.
- Conduct research, including negative news searches, through the Bank’s systems and external databases.
- Utilize BSA/AML software to detect, review, and report suspicious activity.
- Communicate with Bank and branch staff on BSA related questions or issues.
- Perform special projects and assist other teams within the BSA Department (e.g., OFAC, CTR, EDD) as requested.
- Stay up to date on AML/OFAC regulatory requirements and FinCEN updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; CAMS preferred.
- Current or prior FIU experience in a bank or large financial institution.
- 3+ years of financial crime experience in a banking setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and mathematical skills.
- Critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving abilities.
