To produce and manage Cayman precedents, know-how and client briefings for the Firm's Cayman Islands Funds service line.
To assist with the dissemination of legal and regulatory changes to fee earners.
To support the drive for Knowledge Management (KM) to improve client service and to give the firm a competitive advantage through ongoing continuous improvement focus, maximising the use of technology and efficiencies of document production as well as working in conjunction with marketing to ensure that the KM function supports and enhances our client service and interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Know-how
- Preparation of the Funds service line precedents, practice notes and client briefings, in conjunction with the Head of KM and Cayman partners, Business Development and Marketing to ensure fee earners and clients are kept up-to-date with applicable legal and regulatory developments, including research and drafting responsibilities as appropriate;
- Review current procedures and practices with practice partners, to improve and standardise transaction processes including facilitation of process mapping of core service line business;
- Keep up-to-date with all relevant service line / jurisdictional, legal, regulatory and case law changes (making changes to client briefings / documents / precedents and practice notes where applicable);
- Maintain an effective system for the collection of know-how including managing precedent pipelines and developing strong relations with the Partners / fee-earners and assessing and capturing KM content from client transactions;
- Keep under regular review relevant jurisdictional / service line content of the Firm’s KM intranet.
Precedents
- Manage maintained know-how for the Funds service lines, with an associated precedent bank, drafting notes, policies and guidance;
- Deliver precedents of the highest quality to suit all types of client needs/standards;
- Identify, review and prepare documents for automated document assembly.
Training
- Prepare and deliver training to all levels of fee earners on KM documents and practices, as required;
- Contribute to, and assist with the co-ordination of, the Funds know-how meetings and assist with the delivery of the Firm's legal development programme;
- Run the weekly funds Cayman meeting
Other general responsibilities
- Actively contribute to a culture of valuing and leveraging the firm’s knowledge;
- Keep under regular review relevant jurisdictional / service line content of the Firm’s KM intranet;
- Contribute to assessment of fee earner participation and return on investment in respect of KM resources;
- Work in collaboration with the wider PSL / KM Team (pan-jurisdiction) to support an alignment in the KM support model across the Firm and provide regular updates to partners;
- Liaise with IT department, KM team and Service Line Partners to ensure effective implementation and usage of technology resources, specifically AI, and tools to enhance knowhow quality, efficiency and availability;
- Other discreet projects as may arise and as agreed.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Cayman Islands senior funds lawyer with at least 6 years’ PQE;
- LLB (Hons) from a reputable tertiary institution and strong academics, all with a minimum grade of 2:1 (or equivalent);
- Fund formation and fund regulatory expertise;
- AI and legal technology experience desirable;
- Experience in private practice;
- Good communication skills;
- Excellent technical detail drafting skills;
- Some experience or knowledge of the delivery of knowledge management systems an advantage;
- Enthusiasm for developing knowledge systems,
improving access and understanding amongst the business;
Responsiveness to the needs of fee-earners and support staff where knowledge access is concerned.
