PhD Fellowship – Department of NeuroscienceWe are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic scientist for a 3‑year PhD fellowship starting 1 December 2026. The role focuses on brain neuro‑vascular signalling in novel brain‑machine interfaces, employing in‑vivo two‑photon microscopy in awake transgenic mice and in‑vitro patch clamp in mouse brain slices.Key Responsibilities- Perform in‑vitro patch clamp experiments in mouse brain slices.
- Conduct microsurgeries to implant chronic cranial windows and novel brain stimulation probes in transgenic mice.
- Train mice and perform longitudinal two‑photon imaging studies.
- Analyze experimental data.
- Carry out an independent research project under supervision.
- Complete approximately 30 ECTS of PhD courses or equivalent education.
- Participate in active research environments, including a stay at another research team.
- Engage in teaching or dissemination related to the PhD project.
- Write a PhD thesis based on the research project.PhD Programme DescriptionThe PhD programme is a three‑year full‑time research education within the 5+3 scheme,
intended for candidates holding a relevant academic degree within the project’s subject area.Qualifications- Completed a Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, or an equivalent program (equivalent to a Danish master’s degree).
- Positive academic evaluation and assessment as best qualified for the position.Essential Experience and Skills- Master's degree in Neuroscience / Biomedical Engineering / Pharmacy.
- Experience in in‑vivo two‑photon imaging.
- Experience in in‑vitro patch clamp.
- Active interest in brain neuro‑vascular research.
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
- Excellent English skills, written and spoken.Desirable Experience and Skills- Experience or knowledge of both in‑vivo and in‑vitro neuroscience experiments.Employment Terms- Duration: 3 years.
- Start date: 1 December 2026.
- Weekly working hours: 37 hours.
