Overview
Postdoc Position(s) in Epigenetics/Genomics/Proteomics at University of CopenhagenAbout the Groups The Choudhary lab is technically and internationally diverse and embedded in an excellent environment that supports high-quality research and interdisciplinary collaboration. The lab conducts research using quantitative proteomics, next-generation nucleic acid sequencing, advanced microscopy, CRISPR-based genome editing, and bioinformatics, and uses diverse cell models including embryonic stem cells and their differentiated derivatives. The research is funded by an ERC Advanced Grant and a Laureate Grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. We are looking for 1–2 postdoc researchers with a PhD and/or MD (i.e., education corresponding to the Danish PhD degree).Project Description The group works in proteomics, genomics, epigenetics, and cell signaling.
The project focuses on understanding epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation, particularly how cis-regulatory enhancers activate genes. It uses quantitative proteomics and genomics to study acetylation and other chromatin modifications in gene regulation. The project combines CRISPR-based genome editing with NGS-based approaches (i.e., RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq) and cell biology to uncover regulatory pathways.Postdoc candidates with wet-lab experience will perform experiments involving cultured mammalian cells, creating CRISPR-engineered cell lines, and generating high-quality ChIP-seq data.
Candidates with both wet lab and bioinformatics experience will be able to do both.Start date: October 1, 2026, or later.Responsibilities
Conduct wet-lab experiments with cultured mammalian cells and generate CRISPR-engineered cell lines.Generate and analyze NGS data, including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, and ATAC-seq.Collaborate in projects that combine proteomics, genomics, and epigenetics to elucidate gene regulation mechanisms.Perform bioinformatics analyses for candidates with dual wet-lab and analytical skills.Qualifications
PhD/MD level education corresponding to the Danish PhD degree in natural or medical science.Excellent scientific track record, including at least one publication in a high-quality peer-reviewed international journal (pre-prints may be counted).Expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas: quantitative proteomics, epigenetics, gene transcription regulation; bioinformatic analysis of proteomics/genomics data; culturing mammalian cells; molecular biology techniques including CRISPR.Good communication skills, both oral and written; analytical aptitude for innovative scientific solutions.Place of Employment
Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine and Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, central Copenhagen. The workplace offers state-of-the-art facilities.Salary and Employment Terms
Salary and terms follow the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Academics Central organization. Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. Pension provisions may allow pension to be paid out as salary.Duration
Full-time position of 3 years (37 hours per week).Application Procedure
Applications must be submitted electronically.
Deadline: 17 July 2026, 23:59 CET. Applications will be assessed according to the Ministerial Order no. 242 of 13 March 2012. The University encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds.Contact: Chuna Ram Choudhary (
