The Town of Vail is hiring Lateral Public Safety Emergency Communications Specialists. A hiring bonus of $6,000 is available upon successful completion of training. Starting pay ranges from $35.73 to $41.36 per hour, based on experience and certifications.
Position Summary
The Vail Public Safety Communications Center is seeking experienced Public Safety Emergency Communications Specialists to dispatch emergency service calls 24/7 for 13 public safety agencies in Eagle County.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a multi‑agency Police, Fire, and EMS dispatch center.
- Experience in both call taking and radio dispatcher roles.
- Strong public‑relations, communication, and problem‑solving skills with integrity.
- Clean background; successful completion of personal history statement (background check) and drug screening.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, holidays,
and overnight shifts.
Additional Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain emotional control in stressful situations.
- Strong computer and typing skills.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
