Tenure‑Track Assistant Professor in Philosophy

The University of Copenhagen seeks a visionary and team‑oriented assistant professor to commence 1 February 2027, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Responsibilities

- Conduct research and publish peer‑reviewed work, disseminating results to the scientific community and the public.
- Develop, organise and deliver research‑based teaching in theoretical, practical or history of philosophy, with emphasis on German or French philosophy after 1900.
- Explore societal perspectives of research, including innovation and public engagement.
- Contribute to an active academic environment through seminars, reading groups, and collegial events.
- Apply for and manage external funding and promote diversity and a positive working environment.
- Complete a teacher‑training course and participate in departmental examinations and administration.

Qualifications

- Ph.D. in philosophy or equivalent.
- Strong research profile in at least one of the main areas of philosophy.
- Teaching experience and a commitment to innovative, research‑based pedagogy.




- Excellent interpersonal skills supporting an inclusive, open‑minded teaching environment in BA and MA programmes.
- Proficiency in Danish expected within 3–6 years for non‑Danish‑speaking appointees.

Salary and Terms of Employment

- Fixed‑term six‑year contract with potential promotion to associate professor.
- Start‑up account of EUR 2,000 for research assistance, fees and travel expenses.

The Section for Philosophy is part of the Department of Communication (KOMM), the largest department in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen.
