What You’ll Be Doing

- An A&A; Nonprofit Manager is the liaison between the partner, the client, and the professional staff. Manage multiple nonprofit/tax-exempt audit and assurance engagements simultaneously, and schedule, staff, and coordinate engagement workflow. Develop and train staff and help connect to develop new business for the firm.
- All phases of an audit, compilation, or review engagements for nonprofit organizations (including social service agencies, healthcare, educational, and arts and culture organizations). Experience auditing governmentally funded organizations subject to single audits and other compliance audits is critical.
- Maintain and continually develop technical knowledge of relevant professional standards with emphasis on Governmental Audit Standards, Single Audit Compliance, and federal and California state regulations.
- Lead projects effectively, guiding teams to deliver high-quality service on time and within budget.
- Understand California state and Los Angeles County government grants and related compliance requirements.
- Develop working knowledge of new accounting standards applicable to nonprofits and educate client peers on their application.
- Maintain client contact throughout the year and possess thorough knowledge of the client’s mission, programs, and operations.
- Plan, schedule,



and staff engagements using firm policies; review staff assignments for appropriateness; supervise seniors and staff and provide on-the-job training.
- Coach and develop team members, assist in performance evaluations, and manage engagements to meet deadlines and standards; contribute to engagement profitability.
- Keep the partner informed of important engagement developments, analyze problems, and recommend solutions. Ensure financial statements and letters of recommendations comply with standards.
- Prepare engagement letters for partner approval; handle client billing, communicate fees, and assist in collecting overdue accounts.
- Maintain knowledge of firm philosophy, general economic and political trends affecting nonprofit operations.

What we need from you

- Develop nonprofit staff through recruiting, training, and instruction in nonprofit professional development programs.
- Prepare reports and projects as requested by partners; participate in practice development efforts in the nonprofit niche.
- Build client relationships; participate in marketing, networking, and business development.
- Apply knowledge of business functions, processes,



and strategies; supervise and review engagement results; ensure profitability through billings and collections.
- Participate in firm initiatives and mentoring programs; perform other duties as assigned.

What skills & experience you’ll bring

- At least five (5) years of experience in public accounting with a strong focus in the nonprofit sector, including single audits and other compliance audits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field; CPA certification.
- Minimum of 40 hours of continuing education each year; strong research and technical advisory skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication; demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities; strong client liaison experience.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.

The current salary range estimate is: $135,000 - $162,500.
