Project Overview

Yanacocha WTP is located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru. It is the largest gold mine in South America and the project includes two large acid water treatment plants: the West plant with a 3,000 m³/h capacity and the East plant with a 2,700 m³/h capacity. Early works include permanent platform construction and work area preparation for both plants, as well as development of the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.

Job Summary

Lead mechanical discipline tasks in pre‑commissioning of the acid water treatment plants, overseeing pumping systems, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, high density sludge, oxidation reactors, lime plants, pumps, industrial air compressors and instrumentation. Coordinate with processes, instrumentation, control, electrical, and ES&H; to ensure safety, efficiency and reliability.

Major Responsibilities
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly technical progress reports on mechanical equipment testing.




- Ensure compliance with pre‑operation standards and safety protocols for mechanical equipment.
- Review, validate and approve IPERC and authorization of safe and high‑risk works in coordination with ES&H.;
- Validate and approve vendor technical documentation and water test reports.Verify safety conditions such as NPSH, design pressures, safety valves and emergency stop systems.
- Resolve engineering problems specific to the specialty using engineering principles, codes and standards.
- Supervise hydrostatic testing, flushing, tightness, alignment and functional testing of pumping systems.
- Lead execution of pre‑commissioning checklists and mechanical matrices.
- Coordinate with processes, instrumentation, control, electrical, piping and HSE to integrate activities during pre‑commissioning.
