Job Summary

Under close supervision, develops functional knowledge and skills to contribute to the growth and profitability of the assigned specialty line(s) through underwriting, marketing, and management of standard risk products and services.

The position requires a strong understanding of technical lines (such as engineering, construction, energy, and transportation) and skills in data management and analysis to support sound technical and commercial decision-making. Works within defined limits and authorities on low-complexity assignments. Some risks may require special handling or unusual coverages.

Responsibilities

- Reviews, evaluates, and underwrites new and renewal accounts under the guidance of the manager.
- Reviews and negotiates policy terms and conditions in collaboration with the manager.




- Develops and maintains strong relationships with the brokerage community to facilitate the marketing of Liberty’s products and services.
- Applies knowledge of technical insurance lines (such as CAR, engineering, construction, and energy) and utilizes data analysis tools to support underwriting and portfolio management decisions.
- Participates in marketing calls with brokers and potential insureds, generally under the direction of the manager, while gradually developing independent marketing capabilities.
- Communicates with other underwriters within the product line and with claims analysts to provide comprehensive customer service.
- Performs assigned related tasks, including preparing reports, presentations, and special projects to support the success of the product line unit.
- Collaborates with the Legal and Compliance areas to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and mitigate potential risks.
- Coordinates with internal departments and provides support in preparing regulatory reports and data submissions.

Education, Training, and Experience

- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; preferably in Industrial and/or Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in underwriting or related technical areas.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures, with exposure to technical insurance lines.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to manage and analyze databases and other information tools to support underwriting decisions, like MS Excel, PowerBI, etc.
- Additional Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
