Role We seek a dynamic People Analytics Data Scientist with a successful track record in developing and leading people analytics strategies in a fast-paced environment.

This role involves transforming data into actionable insights to support talent decisions, optimize talent metrics aligned with business goals, and enhance the analytical capabilities of the people team. You will drive strategic initiatives, execute hands-on projects, and help Whatnot attract top talent, improve team development, retention, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities 1. Lead and implement the people analytics strategy in collaboration with the People team, business leaders, data scientists, and IT.

- Build a robust people analytics structure with predictive insights and prescriptive impacts to create competitive advantages.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
- Create scalable data pipelines from various sources for analysis and automated reporting.
- Analyze data patterns,
use predictive modeling to uncover insights, and forecast organizational needs.
- Collaborate with People Business Partners and leaders to understand operations and translate data into actionable strategies.
- Ensure data integrity, quality, and security, partnering with Data Engineering, IT, and People Teams.
- Identify, implement, and manage people analytics tools and platforms, supporting self-service capabilities.
- Drive communication and change management to promote analytics initiatives organization-wide.
- Uphold ethical standards, privacy, and fairness in all analytics activities. Location US-based role: Must be within commuting distance of Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, or San Francisco hubs.

About You

We’re looking for an intellectually curious, motivated leader who thrives in ambiguous environments and enjoys building from scratch. You are a blend of data scientist, storyteller, and business partner, passionate about uncovering insights to inform people decisions. With a strong technical foundation in people analytics, you can translate data into compelling narratives for leadership.

You are hands-on, strategic, and comfortable balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced setting. You understand the human element behind data, uphold ethical practices,
and integrate qualitative insights with quantitative data to tell a comprehensive story. As our first People Analytics Data Scientist, you will shape our workforce analytics strategy, working cross-functionally with People, Finance, and Business teams, as well as data science and engineering partners.

You will serve as a technical authority on statistical methods, predictive modeling, and workforce analytics, mentoring others and driving impactful initiatives. You should have over 6 years of experience in Data Analytics, with 3–6 years specifically in People/HR Analytics in high-growth environments. Proficiency in SQL and Python or R, experience building ETL pipelines, and familiarity with HRIS and visualization tools are required.

You should be committed to ethical data use, with a solid understanding of HR data and processes, and excellent communication skills to tell stories with data for diverse audiences.

Compensation For US-based applicants: $185,000–$240,000/year, plus benefits and equity. Final salary depends on experience, skills, and level.
